This Privacy Policy explains how SMAAK MEET (“we”, “us”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our dating and social-discovery service (the “Service”). By using SMAAK MEET you agree to this Policy. The Service is intended only for people aged 18 and over.
Information we collect
You give us: your email address, first name, date of birth, gender and who you’re looking for, photos, profile prompts and interests, and the messages and gifts you send.
Collected automatically: device and browser type, IP address, approximate location (such as your city), and how you use the Service (pages viewed, likes, matches, activity times).
Payments: if you buy Premium or gifts, billing is processed by your mobile operator and their billing partner. We receive confirmation of a successful charge — we do not collect or store your card or full payment-account details.
How we use your information
To create and run your account; to show you potential matches and let you chat; to send notifications (such as likes, matches, messages and gifts); to keep the community safe (moderation, fraud and abuse prevention); to provide support; to improve the Service; and to meet legal obligations.
How we protect it
Sensitive fields — your email, first name and the contents of your messages — are encrypted at rest (AES-256-GCM). We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, though no online service can be 100% secure.
Automated and curated profiles
To keep the community lively, some profiles may be moderated, curated, or operated by SMAAK MEET, including with automated assistance, and may not represent a specific real person available to meet. Conversations with such profiles may be partly or fully automated. This does not change how we protect the personal data of real members described in this Policy.
When we share information
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with: service providers who host and operate the Service on our behalf; push-notification services (such as Google and Apple) to deliver alerts to your device; your mobile operator and billing partner to process purchases; and authorities where required by law or to protect users. Other members see only the profile information and content you choose to share.
Cookies and analytics
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in and to understand and improve how the Service is used. We may use analytics and advertising measurement tools (for example, to see which campaigns bring new members). You can control cookies through your browser settings.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data, except where we must keep certain records to comply with the law, resolve disputes, or prevent abuse.
Your rights
You can access, update or delete your information at any time from your account settings, and you can delete your account entirely. You may also withdraw consent or object to certain processing. In South Africa, you have rights under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA), including the right to access, correct or delete your personal information and to object to its processing. You may lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa).
Children
SMAAK MEET is strictly for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If we learn that an account belongs to a minor, we will remove it.
Changes
We may update this Policy from time to time. We’ll post the new version here and update the date above.
